DDT players are all very well, but has this place in Golders Green got a bathroom? I remember when I was in London after the war ablutions were not easy. I stayed briefly in the Peabody Buildings, just down the road from Leigh Street, and bath night was a real performance. One saved up the coal ration until the big day and then stoked up boiler. We pulled out the zinc bath and put it in the kitchen , near the boiler, and took turns from youngest to oldest. You’ll never get to work on time if you have to go through all that each day.
